  • Topics: You might be asked about personal details like your home, hobbies, studies, work, and routine. The questions are straightforward and are meant to help you relax and get comfortable speaking.

Example Questions:

  • What do you do for work or study?
  • Can you tell me about your hometown?
  • Do you prefer spending time indoors or outdoors? Why?
Part 2: Long Turn (1-2 minutes of speaking)
  • Duration: 3-4 minutes
  • Purpose: This section tests your ability to speak at length about a specific topic. You are given a "Cue Card" with a topic and a set of prompts.

Instructions:

  • You have 1 minute to prepare. During this time, you can make notes on the card.
  • After the preparation time, you will need to speak for 1-2 minutes about the topic.
  • Tip: Try to cover all aspects of the topic mentioned on the Cue Card. Don't worry about making it perfect—focus on speaking clearly and at length.

Example Topic on the Cue Card: "Describe a book you have recently read. You should say:

  • What the book is about
  • Why you decided to read it
  • What you liked or disliked about it
  • And explain whether you would recommend it to others."
Part 3: Discussion (5-6 questions)
  • Duration: 4-5 minutes
  • Purpose: This section explores topics related to the subject of Part 2 in more depth. It focuses on your ability to engage in a discussion and express opinions on broader issues.
  • Topics: You may be asked about societal issues, trends, or your views on a specific topic related to Part 2. Expect questions that encourage you to provide reasoning, examples, or detailed opinions.
Example Questions (Related to the book topic from Part 2):
  • How do books compare to movies in terms of conveying a message?
  • Do you think reading habits are changing in the modern world? Why or why not?
  • What are the benefits of reading books in today's digital age?
