FAQs for TOEFL Writing:
No specific eligibility criteria have been defined by ETS. However, the earliest the students sit for the TOEFL is while they are in the 12th grade and want to pursue their higher education abroad, mainly The USA, Canada, etc.
An average TOEFL score is around 90. It may vary from 85 to 95. Anything above 100 is considered a good TOEFL score.
The TOEFL iBT test has four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.
If you understand the majority of the language, but have trouble with the format of the test, it may be 6 - 8 weeks of preparation. If the general language level is very difficult for you, getting to a high TOEFL score (>90) could take 2 - 3 month. In that case, you may have to do The TOEFL Foundation Course of Global Course.
TOEFL scores are valid for only two years. The validation date of the exam starts after 5-7 days when the results are declared. A candidate can only use their TOEFL scores for two years before the validity date.
ETS does not limit the number of TOEFL attempts made by a candidate. However, majority of the candidates take TOEFL only once.
The Speaking Section of TOEFL contains questions regarding day - to - day life, for example, "talk about an important national holiday in your country." or "describe the most impressive moment in your life.", etc.
TOEFL Speaking is scored based on some criteria set by ETS. They are clarity, relevance, the use of proper words, etc.
about 16 minutes - You'll get 15–30 seconds of preparation time before each response, and your response will be 45 or 60 seconds long.
On rare occasions, a small set of questions may be repeated in another resource, but complete tests are never repeated in full.
You will hear each conversation or lecture only one time.
TOEFL Speaking students I've worked with, the correct slower pace allows them to say about 100 words in the 60 seconds time limit. This doesn't need to be an exact word count, of course. But try to aim for at least 90 words, and not more than 110 — this seems to work for most of the students I tutor.
This section consists of four questions/tasks that are modeled after real-life situations and test your ability to speak English effectively in an academic setting. Your answers are recorded on a computer and sent to the ETS for review.
