IELTS General Writing Test Format:

This module assesses your written English skills in terms of task achievement, grammar, vocabulary and coherence. A candidate will be given two writing tasks, i.e. a letter and a more analytical or persuasive response. Writing Task 2 will be a descriptive or a persuasive essay in both IELTS Academic and IELTS General. in General Writing Task 1, the candidates are asked to write a formal letter or an informal letter.

In General IELTS, Writing Task 1 is scored out of 3 in a multiple of half band. Whereas, the score in Writing Task 2 will be given out of 6 and in a multiple of half band. The sum of scores in both the tasks your total score in the Writing Section. Your given scores are based on the coherence, clarity, relevance to the topic, grammar, etc.
